2019 Ford Focus Wagon Redesign
Ford Focus Wagon Redesign: Ford’s third-generation Focus on the U.S. marketplace, testing in ancient prototype guise someplace in Europe. Wait, you may be thinking, were not there over two preceding productions of Focus, a nameplate Ford introduced in 1999, available in the United States? While Europe obtained an interstitial all-new variation in 2005, we were served two different yet equally succulent refreshes of their first before 2011, when Ford decided it’d again promote exactly the identical automobile in America and Europe. Ford’s working on a redesign to its Focus along with a prototype has only been seen. The model is for the brand new compact’s wagon body design that’s not likely to be provided in the United States.
Rather, we are most likely to obtain sedan and hatchback body styles just, exactly like with the present generation. (One change, however, is that the cars will likely be sourced from China rather than locally.)
If it had been marketed here, the Focus Wagon will challenge the Volkswagen Golf SportWagen, also to some lesser degree that the Subaru Outback. Overseas, it is going to face competition from many compact wagons such as the Hyundai i30 Touring, Opel Astra Sports Tourer, and also possibly the Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake.
From alterations found on earlier evaluation mules, we all know the redesigned Focus will be slightly wider and longer than the present generation. This should cause more space for both passengers and freight.
2019 Ford Focus Wagon Engine
It is not clear what Ford intends for your powertrains though it is almost sure all components will be turbocharged. Today’s Focus provides just a 160-hp 2.0-liter four plus a 123-hp turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder EcoBoost. (Of course, that the Focus ST and Focus RS performance versions utilize burlier turbo fours, which we anticipate will probably take over to their replacements, but we are focusing on the normal Focus here.) Those engine options may stay, though Ford could choose to embrace a turbocharged, small-displacement four-cylinder either as an extra motor or replacing the turbo three, assisting the Focus on square up better from Chevy’s all-turbo Cruze and Honda’s half-turbo Civic lineup. The Focus prototype pictured here includes a six-speed manual transmission, an alternative we think will reunite on the 2019 Focus along with a revised iteration of this six-speed dual-clutch automatic provided in the present vehicle.
